The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community would like to invite you to become a member.
Whether or not you are Dakota, you can be a vital part of our community. Individual, educational, and corporate memberships are available.

By joining us you can:
- Reconnect with your roots and extended families.
- Obtain access to Dakota genealogical information.
- Learn about the Dakota heritage (traditional storytellers, elder speakers, etc.)
- Attend free classes on traditional crafts, Dakota language, and more.
- Learn about (and participate in) special cultural events (pow-wow, sweat lodge, ceremonies, and more)
- Find speakers on the Dakota culture (great for schools, small groups, scouts, etc.)
- We’re the “go to†resource for children and teachers on the Dakota culture
- We can help you find Native-made products (jewelry, artwork, crafts, etc.)
- And of course you’ll get a Certificate of Membership.
Did you know that there are only 10 fluent Dakota speakers in Minnesota?
By becoming a member and supporting us financially, you help preserve the Dakota language and heritage.
Because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your financial support is tax deductible.
