Age 26 years oldFormer Minnesota resident passed away on February 20th, 2012, in Fargo, North Dakota.

Pezi H’ota Hoksina was born on May 28th, 1985 in Sisseton,SD. He was raised by his loving mother Paula Mae Horne-Mullen, father Loren Zephier, and father Arvol Looking Horse.

Pezi H’ota Hoksina was an extraordinary runner who co-organized and participated in “Prayer Run for World Peace.” In 2004 he ran from Massachusettes to Black Hills, South Dakota and again in 2005 going from Vancouver, BC to Anchorage, Alaska.

Pezi H’ota Hoksina loved horses and enjoyed riding during summer, in Green Grass, SD. He participated in many horse back rides since he was a young man. His most cherished memories were riding in the “Big Foot Ride” from age 16 to 20 years old and the “Dakota 38 Ride” from age 20 to 25 years old. He had immense compassion for horses and volunteered at a horse sanctuary called “Blue Star Equiculture” in Palmer, Mass. He had a huge heart for animals and cared for many four legged beings.

Pezi H’ota Hoksina’s passion was the outdoors and insisted on staying busy. He loved snowboarding, hiking, running, go cart racing, and anything that was thrill worthy. He was also very talented at gaming and competed in Halo tournaments.

Pezi H’ota Hoksina’s greatest attributes was his smile, humor and humility. Family was the most important value that he possessed.

He held the ingredience of what it meant to be a good humble man (ik’ce wic’as’ta)
He was an extremely caring son,
loving brother,
and most of all he was a great father

Pezi H’ota Hoksina was survived by:
His kids Lilly Zephier, Lila Zephier, Alijah Zephier, and Aaliah Zephier. His mother Paula Mae Horne-Mullen, Auntie-Mother Juanita Espinosa and fathers Loren Zephier and Arvol Looking Horse. His sibliings Sky Oldshield, Owintino Horne, Hapistinna Graci Horne, Sunny Zephier, Wakan Wahohopiwin Zephier, Decorah Zephier, Cheyenne Horne, Nikki Zephier, Millie Zephier, Adonijah Espinosa, Demitrus Espinosa, Wakinya Sandovol, Richard LaRouque, and Peter Vanacht. The love of his life Brittany Schommer. His aunties, uncles, cousins, best friends who he deemed as his own flesh and blood, and much more, in which it would take up a whole lotta space because his heart was strong enough for many.

Funeral arrangements are being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Marty, South Dakota. Wake services start at two pm on Wednesday, and all day Thursday. Friday morning is the last viewing, followed by one pm burial walk/horseback ride to St. Paul Catholic Cemetry.
