Ribbon Skirt Class canelled until further notice. I hope Feburary 2024.

1-12-2024  Sorry we had to change the date to some time in Feburary.

Due to winter storm comming on 1-12&13 of cource now we get a lot of snow. Good old MN.

The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community is having a ribbon skirt class I hope.

Some Saturday in Feburary  10:00am – 3pm. Be on time, we are starting class at 10:00am sharp.

Class is at The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community Office.

1200 Centre Pointe Curve, Suite 150, Mendota Heights, MN 55120.

Far left side of building. Go down the stairs, we are on the right side, our community sign is on our door.

We are so honored to have Wendy Biorn teach our class. She made shirts for the tribal council  men, a few years ago for the wacipi or Powwow. They were beautiful!

Pidamayaye to Cinnamon Bankey and her group (Mending the Sacred Hoop) for donating all the material.

All materials will be free. The class will be only twelve people. Donations are accepted to help with other costs but not necessary. Email auntie Sharon asap mendotadakota@gmail.com before class fills up and get on the list. When full I will send out an email that we are full.

Once we fill up the class no one will be able to attend. So, we are not disturbed, as we have a limited time to finish our skirts.

We will have another skirt class if we need to.

There will be a class for ribbon shirts for men, that date has not been determined I think in February.

The man can email auntie Sharon to see if they are interest in making ribbon shirts. I know some of you guys will.

Please bring a sewing machine. Can some of you help-to-help others who have never used a sewing machine. Just leaning the sewing machines could take time. We only have seven sewing machines as of now so we need to share.

There will be someone to lift your sewing machine down the stairs once you get to the office.

Please bring a dish to pass. We always have a feast at any event at Mendota.

What you do not finish you can take home with supplies.

Anyone want to donate sewing machines to Mendota?

Pidamayaye (Thank You) The Mendota Tribal Council.
