Thank you all who replied to my post about dogs at our Mendota pow wow / Wacipi much appreciated. We will be making a big sign at the Pow Wow to educate our guests about why dogs are not allowed at Pow Wow. I know once our guest understand they will not bring their dogs. I can not speak for other Pow Wows, this is Pow Wow please respect our wishes.

The sign will say something like this.

Thank you for coming to our Pow Wow / Wacipi.

Once we light the sacred fire there are no dogs allowed at the Pow Wow. These are our traditions please respect them. Like our sacred fire, and other ceremonies that will be going on at the Pow Wow.

We are also liable and reasonable for any dog bits, or attacks. Some of our guest may be allergic to dogs. The list could go on and on. No disrespect to anyone, most of us love dogs. I have a dog her name is Lilly she is a little poodle my little girl she is family. I would love to show her off because she is so darn cute, but I have never brought her because of our traditions.

Please respect the general public and our dancers in regalia, and the children running around don’t want to step in dodo. As none of us want to step in dodo.

Please leave you dog at home we don’t want them in hot car either.

Only service dogs allowed, no other exceptions.

Thank You from the Tribal Council, Pow Wow Committee, and our members.

Respectively Sharon
