New Year’s Full Moon Walk at Sacred Coldwater Springs
Monday, January 1, 2018
Gather in the Coldwater Springs free parking lot, 7 pm
Wow! Starting 2018 with a full moon, not just a full moon but a supermoon.
A supermoon is a full or new moon coinciding with our moon’s closest point to planet Earth in its monthly orbit. Look for high, high tides and low, low tides in the oceans and our emotions.
Full moons usually mean extra police on duty, busy emergency rooms, people taking chances.
Check-in with your psyche on this first day of the new year. Breathe the cool air and hear soothing water music at Coldwater to renew your relationship with the Big All.
Full moon walks have been held every month at Coldwater since 2000.
Sunset 4:43 pm (11 minutes later than last month’s full moon)
Moonrise 6:49 pm (26 minutes earlier than last month because we lost an hour with “Fall Back†daylight savings time.)
Exact minute of full moon 8:24 pm
DIRECTIONS: Coldwater Springs is between Minnehaha Park & Fort Snelling, in Minneapolis, just North of the Hwy 55/62 interchange. From Hwy 55/Hiawatha, turn East (toward the Mississippi) at 54th Street, take an immediate right, & drive South on the frontage road for ½-mile past the parking meters—keep going through the cul-de-sac, past the Coldwater Spring entrance sign and into the free parking lot.
All welcome. Dress for the weather, especially sturdy footwear. We celebrate the full moon in all weather.
This gathering is free and open to the public.
