The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community Anniversary June 19, 2024.

The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community. Invite you to our 30-year anniversary on Wednesday June 19th, 2024. Starts at 11am-7pm, need help to clean up and set up. Clean up starts at 8pm.

At St Peters Church in Mendota MN. Where our 27th powwow is this year and every year Sept 13- 15-2024.

Our anniversary party is only about a month and a half away and that will go by too fast. We have a lot to organize. The anniversary is from 11am to 7pm then cleanup. We need to be out by 8ish.

I need a committee asap. If you want to be on the committee, please email me asap I would love to see us all involved in our anniversary in one way or another. We need donations for land, and donations for the silent auction. Door prizes, and other prizes. Lots of food, water, pop, hot and cold dishes, tablecloths, nuts, mints, on each table. We need coffee, juice, and an anniversary cake. Maybe a short Dakota game for kids. We can hand out the Dakota language color book to kids, maybe a little jewelry class for kids? We need lots of paper products, we need everything.

Who can make fry bread, more than one person can make fry bread. We are having a fry bread contest, winner gets $100.00 and a tshirt. I will make maple butter, as much as we need. We need to advertise this week. Send it out to everyone you know to invite them.

I would like to have lots of fun things going on there during the day. Also, speakers, storytelling, dakota songs, videos, pictures, tiny tots contest, crafts for kids. we have a new drum group.

Sister Pat and her sister Margaret will have a display about getting us land and a community center. Pat will have a donation envelope, and an auction too. With a famous local artist. Besure to stop at their table. The picture is of Pilot Knob it is beauiful.

Chris Mato Nunpa will play the piano.

Come see Mendota people’s history.

We need volunteers please email

And we can’t wait to hear all your ideas for our 30-YEAR ANNIVERSARY PLANNING.

I cannot believe it has been 30 years.

Now I know why I have so much grey hair LOL.

If we can find a portable organ to use for the day. Chris Mato Nunpa can play some Dakota songs and other songs. What an honor if that can happen.
