If the tree guys come on Aug 17th then we can not be there for the sage. As they will be cutting branches, and not safe to be around.
We have a mission to complete a gathering by the four trees Sat Aug 17th at 11:am Potluck. We need someone to bring two tables for our potluck from the Mendota tribal office. Doug and Dan are amazing as to how they have been taking care of the four sacred trees for 20 years. It is so beautiful there.
I got this email from Dan the Oakman Keiser. Dan, Doug, and Mendota need your attention. My last post was that they needed lots of help. Since then, Doug got chips, and already cleaned up.
Peter from St Peters Church emailed me, the church will take care of cutting the tree branches of our grandfather tree for liability purposes. Peter had an arborist come yesterday. They said the branches’ had to wait for 5-6 weeks. I hope before the Wacipi / Powwow. Dan took a second look at the grandfather tree. So, I guess we have to wait on the tree branches to be cut.
I put it on our website as you can see. And send out emails. Many people know of the four sacred trees and love them. The trees are from highway 55.
The best days for Mendota not having something going on at the office in Aug, the only day is Sat Aug 17th, around 11am. The only day for us to help. Please reply to my email asap if you want to help mendotadakota@gmail.com. You will get a big bag of sage for your help. Dan’s cell is 612-872-2255 he is in charge. I’m just helping him.
We tried to honor Doug a few years ago, but he did not want to be honored. We did honor Dan at our powwow a few years ago. Pictures on our website.
Mendota Pow Wow is Sept 13-15-24. You can find the powwow flyer at www.mendotadakota.com

Pidamayaye Sharon Lennartson Tribal Chair for MMDTC. Email if you can help mendotadakota@gmail.com or call the tribal office 651-452-4141. I will start working on some donations to help pay Doug for some of his expenses. We will have a donation jar too. Dan, I Don’t have Doug’s email, I want to say pidamayaye for all he does, year after year. And of course, you Dan who really started taking care of the trees with Bob Brown and others. I was right there too for the planting of the four trees and ceremony. For taking care of our Mendota sacred land. We can never say pidamayaye to both of you enough.
We need to say pidamayaye – thank you to St Peters Church for letting us plant the four trees sacred trees on our sacred land.
I also want to say pidamayaye to our creator who makes everything happen.
Dan and Doug we are with you in 100% solidarity.
