The Tribal Council feels we must clear the air about removed members.   9-20-2016
We received some phone calls, emails, etc telling us some removed members were at the pow wow putting the tribal council down once again. They were claiming we kicked them out for no reason. These members were removed from membership because they either choose not to pay their contribution, or choose not to file for exemption. We also ask members to try to come to at least 4 monthly meeting a year, if you live in town. Once you are 60 days behind in contributions, you are removed from emails. If you get behind in your contribution for 2 years, then you will be removed from membership. You can be exempt, but you must document your income. There will be more members being removed for the same reason listed above. When we submit the paperwork again to the OFA, only current member in good standing will be submitted. Those who have not paid your contributions or have not been involved in the community, please call the office to get caught up on contribution get your paperwork up to date. We have sent out many emails, letters, and talked to members about getting caught up, with very little response from some. Thank you to all of you who did get caught up. We also have a lot of new members!
For Clarification – The Reason we have removed members the past year is because the Office of Federal Acknowledgement REQUIRES all membership roles to be accurate, and current. Our ultimate goal is to receive federal recognition, and it is for this reason that the membership requirements were changed. Please call the office for any questions.
