Subject: Dakota Language Fall Family Immersion Camps

The Dakota Language Intergenerational Family Immersion Camp is proud to announce its first language learning opportunity for the year. We are now accepting registration for Ptanyetu Oeti (Fall Camp), held on October 14 – 16 at The Forest-Marine on St. Croix just north of Stillwater, Minnesota. The immersion camps are offered for families and individuals interested in speaking the Dakota language. Participants will have the chance to experience the language through: games, traditional arts, storytelling, harvesting food, cooking and eating and songs. Registration will fill soon; we ask applications be completed as soon as possible.

To see the dancers out there dancing again makes my heart beat to the drums. The drums are the heart of the Wacipi.

We had more friends of Mendota helping us again than our own members?

I got ill again for a while on Saturday, after about 4 hours I was helping again. I cannot help it; I love the Wacipi, the drums, dancer, vendors, and all the people that come to our Wacipi.

Pidamaya for all the kind words that people told me about how they enjoyed the Wacipi, was worth all the months of working on the Wacipi day and night for many HOURS.

We had a great feast pidamaya to Cherokee Park Church, and the many others who brought food to share.

If you drive by St. Peters Church this week, you would never have known there was a Wacipi there just a few days ago. Pidamaya to Security for a great job again. I want say pidamaya the Wacipi committee for all their hard work. Pidamaya to all the volunteers, to everyone who made this 2011 Wacipi successful.
